Map
Diorama
unconventional
Diorama is the smallest official map in Timberborn, measuring a tiny 50x50 tiles that creates an incredibly compact and intimate building challenge. With only 2,500 total tiles to work with (compared to 65,536 on a standard 256x256 map), every single placement decision matters enormously. This unconventional map strips Timberborn down to its most essential elements, forcing players to build a functional beaver colony within extreme spatial constraints. There is no room for experimentation or waste; the settlement must be optimized from the very first building placed.
Resource management on Diorama is exceptionally tight due to the limited terrain. Water Sources, trees, bushes, and ruins are all present in much smaller quantities than on larger maps, meaning that every resource must be carefully husbanded. A single misplaced dam or an inefficient farm layout can have cascading consequences that are difficult to recover from. Food production must be maximized within the tiny irrigable area, and forestry operations need to be compact yet productive enough to supply building materials for essential infrastructure. Players cannot afford to wait for resources to regenerate, as the small map provides no distant forests or untapped land to expand into.
Despite its diminutive size, Diorama offers a surprisingly engaging puzzle-like experience that rewards meticulous planning and creative problem-solving. Weather cycles hit especially hard on this map, as there is no room for large reservoirs to buffer against Droughts, and Badtide contamination can sweep across the entire map in moments. Players must build compact but effective water management systems that protect the colony without consuming precious building space. Diorama is ideal for players who enjoy optimization puzzles and want to test how small a functional colony can be. It also serves as an excellent speed-run map, as the small size means games can be completed in much shorter sessions than on full-sized maps.
