Building
Carousel
well_being
The Carousel is a powered Well-Being building exclusive to the Folktails faction, requiring 750 Science Points to unlock. It satisfies the Fun need by providing beavers with an exciting, whirling ride that lifts their spirits and boosts colony morale. Unlike passive Well-Being buildings such as the Campfire or Bench, the Carousel requires power to operate, connecting your colony's energy grid directly to its entertainment infrastructure. When powered, it spins continuously, and beavers visiting it receive a significant Fun satisfaction boost.
The Fun need is one of the more impactful Well-Being categories, and beavers who lack access to Fun-satisfying buildings will see their overall happiness decline noticeably. The Carousel is the Folktails' primary powered Fun building, offering a higher satisfaction rate than simpler alternatives. Its power requirement means it should be connected to a reliable energy source via Power Shafts; during droughts or power shortages, the Carousel may go offline, leaving beavers without their favorite pastime.
Placing the Carousel in a central location within a district maximizes the number of beavers who can access it during their leisure time. It pairs well with other Folktails Well-Being buildings like the Dance Hall, Agora, and Mud Bath to create a comprehensive entertainment and social quarter. The visual spectacle of beavers riding a spinning carousel adds charm to any settlement and serves as a reminder that even in a post-apocalyptic world, these industrious rodents still know how to have a good time.
