fun
Fun is a positive need in Timberborn that represents beavers' desire for entertainment and recreational activities. Beavers who have access to Fun buildings enjoy higher Well-Being, which translates into better Work Speed, Growth Speed, Movement Speed, and Life Expectancy. Fun operates as a need group with multiple sub-needs, each tied to a specific entertainment building. The need decays over time (range 0 to 100), and beavers seek out Fun buildings during their leisure hours to restore it.
Each faction has its own set of Fun buildings with varying Well-Being bonuses. The Detailer is a basic Fun building available to both factions, restoring 60 points per hour. Folktails can build the Carousel and the Mud Pit, each providing a +3 Well-Being bonus when visited. Iron Teeth have access to the Scratcher (+1 Well-Being bonus), the Swimming Pool and Exercise Plaza (each +3 bonus), and the Motivatorium (+5 bonus), which is their top-tier entertainment facility. The Lido also satisfies Fun while simultaneously fulfilling the Wet Fur need, making it a versatile dual-purpose building. Higher-tier Fun buildings generally require more resources and space but provide substantially larger Well-Being contributions.
To maximize Fun satisfaction, players should build a variety of entertainment buildings spread across the colony. Since each sub-need corresponds to a specific building, constructing multiple different Fun buildings provides more Well-Being points than duplicating the same one. Place Fun buildings near residential areas so beavers can visit them during short breaks between shifts. Iron Teeth players should prioritize building the Motivatorium for its +5 bonus once resources allow, while Folktails benefit from the Carousel and Mud Pit combination. During the early game, a single Detailer can serve a small population, but expanding Fun options becomes increasingly important as the colony grows and players push for higher Well-Being thresholds.
