Charging Station

science_and_bots

The Charging Station is a science building exclusive to the Iron Teeth faction, requiring 500 Science Points to unlock. It serves as the energy lifeline for Ironbots, the Iron Teeth's automated mechanical workers. Each Charging Station can recharge only one Ironbot at a time, and it requires a constant source of power to operate, even when no bot is actively docked for charging. This persistent power draw means that Charging Stations must be factored into your colony's baseline energy budget, not just its peak demand.

Placement of Charging Stations is a critical logistical consideration. Ironbots need to travel to a Charging Station when their energy runs low, so stations should be positioned near the work sites where bots are assigned. Placing them too far away results in wasted travel time, reducing the effective productivity of your bot workforce. A good practice is to build one or more Charging Stations in every district that employs Ironbots, connected to the local power grid via Power Shafts and backed by reliable generators.

As your Ironbot fleet grows, the number of Charging Stations must scale proportionally. Since each station handles only one bot at a time, a large fleet will need many stations to avoid charging queues that idle your bots. Pairing Charging Stations with Control Towers (which boost Ironbot condition in a 10-tile radius) creates efficient bot service hubs. The Charging Station is the backbone of the Iron Teeth's automated labor system, and underinvesting in charging infrastructure is one of the most common mistakes players make when scaling up bot operations.
