Distribution Post

district_management

The Distribution Post was once a key logistics building in Timberborn, responsible for establishing trade routes between districts and controlling distribution limits for goods. Each Distribution Post could manage up to 10 routes, with each route delivering a specific good type to a Drop-off Point in another district. To function, it required a continuous path from the Distribution Post to the destination Drop-off Point, separated by a District Gate. The building could hold up to 25 units of each resource or material required for its active routes.

In its original role, the Distribution Post was essential for multi-district colonies that needed to share resources like Water, food, or building materials between settlements. Players would carefully configure routes to ensure new or resource-poor districts received the supplies they needed to survive droughts and maintain production. The building worked in tandem with Drop-off Points, which served as the receiving end for inter-district shipments, and District Gates, which marked the physical boundary between districts.

With the introduction of Update 4, the Distribution Post was made obsolete and its functionality was folded into the District Crossing, which now combines the roles of the Distribution Post, Drop-off Point, and District Gate into a single, streamlined building. The District Crossing offers improved usability with per-side storage of 30 units, dedicated crossing workers with enhanced carrying capacity, and simplified import/export controls. Players familiar with the old system will find the District Crossing more intuitive and easier to manage, especially in colonies with many interconnected districts. The Distribution Post remains in the wiki as a historical reference for long-time players.
