Automation Component

Detonator

actuator

The Detonator is a specialized actuator that remotely triggers the simultaneous detonation of all connected Dynamite charges when its input signal activates. At 1,400 Science Points, it is one of the most expensive automation components, reflecting the destructive power and strategic importance of coordinated explosive demolition. The Detonator transforms Dynamite from a manually triggered tool into a remotely controlled terraforming system that can be integrated into your broader automation network.

Multiple Detonators can be linked to a single signal source, allowing entire fields of Dynamite across different locations to be triggered at once. This is invaluable for large-scale terraforming projects where precise timing matters: blowing open multiple dam walls simultaneously to create a controlled flood, clearing debris from several channels at once to redirect water flow, or demolishing terrain in a coordinated pattern. Connect a Detonator to a Depth Sensor to automatically blast open an emergency overflow channel when water levels exceed a critical threshold.

The Detonator pairs naturally with sensors and logic gates to create condition-triggered demolition circuits. A safety-conscious setup might use an AND Gate requiring both a manual Lever confirmation AND a sensor trigger before allowing detonation, preventing accidental explosions. For staged terraforming, connect separate Detonators to different Timers to create sequential blasts that reshape terrain in a controlled progression. Always plan your Dynamite placement and Detonator connections carefully before arming the circuit, as detonation is irreversible. The 1,400 Science Point cost ensures this powerful tool is available only to well-established colonies that can afford both the research and the Explosives needed to use it.
