Dynamite

landscaping

Dynamite is a terrain destruction tool unlocked for 400 Science Points that removes exactly one terrain block directly below its placement location. It requires 1 Explosive to place, which must be produced at an Explosives Factory. Once placed by Builders from a Builders Hut, the Dynamite detonates and permanently destroys the terrain block beneath it, creating space for water channels, underground rooms, Gravity Battery shafts, and other subterranean construction. Terrain blocks cannot be removed by any other means besides explosives or the Dirt Excavator, making Dynamite essential for reshaping your map.

One of Dynamite's most powerful features is chain reaction detonation: when a Dynamite charge goes off, it triggers the detonation of any adjacent Dynamites at the same height level. This chain reaction mechanic allows you to clear large areas of terrain in a single coordinated blast by placing multiple Dynamite charges next to each other. For controlled demolition, space your charges carefully to avoid unintended terrain removal. For maximum efficiency, line up Dynamite along the entire area you want to clear before allowing detonation.

Common uses for Dynamite include carving river channels, creating reservoir basins, digging shafts for Gravity Batteries, and opening up underground building space. For deeper excavations, consider upgrading to Double Dynamite (2 blocks) or Triple Dynamite (3 blocks) to remove multiple layers per charge. Alternatively, the Dirt Excavator can remove terrain in a 5x5 area layer by layer while also producing Dirt as a resource, though it works much more slowly. Plan your blasting operations carefully, as terrain removal is permanent, and always ensure you have a steady supply of Explosives from your Explosives Factory before starting large-scale terraforming projects.
