Builders Hut

The Builders' Hut is the primary way to employ additional builders within a district, accelerating construction, demolition, and rubble reclamation across your settlement. Available to both Folktails and Iron Teeth, it costs 400 Science Points to unlock (with an additional 250 SP for bot workplace access) and requires 20 Logs and 10 Planks to construct. This 3x2 building employs up to 4 dedicated builders who handle all construction tasks within their district, including carrying materials to build sites and performing the actual assembly.

Builders can work up to 10 tiles from any connected path, so strategic path placement near planned construction zones is essential for efficiency. When multiple builders are assigned to a project, all available workers carry materials simultaneously, while one designated builder performs the actual construction at each progress milestone. During idle periods when no construction is queued, builders pitch in by removing output from workplaces, helping keep production flowing. If a worksite is accessible from multiple districts, builders from each district will split the tasks between them, which can be useful for large border projects.

Building a Builders' Hut should be among your first priorities after establishing a new district, since the 4 workers from the District Center alone cannot keep up with the demands of a growing settlement. Each additional Builders' Hut effectively quadruples your construction workforce for that district. The building also transmits power through power shafts, contributing to your energy distribution network. For Iron Teeth players, builders can work from tubeways during construction, offering additional flexibility in how you route your workforce. Pair your Builders' Hut with a well-stocked Log Pile and Plank storage to ensure builders always have materials ready to haul.
