Deep Water Pump

water

The Deep Water Pump is an Iron Teeth-exclusive water extraction building capable of pumping fluids from an impressive depth of up to 6 tiles, far exceeding the reach of the common Water Pump's 2-block range. Unlocked at 1000 Science Points, this building is the Iron Teeth's answer to deep water access, allowing them to tap into reservoirs and river channels that other pumps cannot reach. The Deep Water Pump generates Water as a good, similar to the basic Water Pump, but its extended reach makes it vastly more reliable during droughts when surface water recedes.

The 6-tile pumping depth of the Deep Water Pump makes it particularly effective when paired with deep dams, natural canyons, and excavated reservoirs where water accumulates to significant depths. During droughts, while shallow pumps lose access as water levels drop, the Deep Water Pump continues operating as long as any water remains within its 6-tile reach. However, the pump works less efficiently at higher Badwater concentrations, so it is best positioned near clean water sources or behind filtration systems. This limitation means players should keep Badwater management in mind when planning pump placement.

Iron Teeth players should prioritize the Deep Water Pump as a mid-game upgrade once they have the Science Points and construction resources available. Place these pumps at the deepest points of your water network, ideally at the base of tall dams or in natural depressions where water pools deeply. For maximum drought resilience, combine Deep Water Pumps with large reservoir systems and Water Tanks to maintain supply even during extended dry periods. The Deep Water Pump pairs naturally with the Deep Mechanical Fluid Pump for a complete deep-water infrastructure, giving Iron Teeth colonies access to water resources that Folktails players can only reach with their own advanced pump technologies.
