Large Water Tank
storage
The Large Water Tank is the highest-capacity liquid storage building in Timberborn, unlocked for 500 Science Points and providing an enormous 1200-unit storage capacity. This single structure can hold the equivalent of 240 full blocks of water, making it the most space-efficient water storage option in the game by a wide margin. For colonies facing extended drought cycles on harder difficulty maps, the Large Water Tank is the cornerstone of drought survival, storing enough water to sustain large populations through prolonged dry periods.
The Large Water Tank's 1200-unit capacity makes it four times more efficient than the Medium Water Tank and forty times larger than the Small Water Tank. This massive storage volume, combined with the evaporation-proof nature of all tanks, means a well-placed cluster of Large Water Tanks can replace entire open-air reservoir systems while taking up a fraction of the space. This is particularly valuable in colonies where terrain constraints limit the size of natural reservoirs, or on maps where frequent droughts demand deep strategic water reserves.
Position Large Water Tanks at the heart of your colony's water infrastructure, near the primary Water Pumps and central distribution corridors. Their significant construction cost and Science Point investment means you should build them deliberately at optimal locations rather than scattering them across the map. For maximum drought resilience, combine Large Water Tanks with a network of smaller tanks at satellite locations and reservoir systems controlled by Floodgates and Levees. During wet seasons, prioritize filling your Large Water Tanks to capacity before allowing excess water to flow downstream, ensuring your colony enters each drought cycle with maximum reserves.
