Small Water Tank
storage
The Small Water Tank is the most basic liquid storage building in Timberborn, available from the start with no Science Point cost. Tanks are specialized storage structures designed to hold liquid goods such as Water and other fluids, keeping them safe from evaporation and contamination. With a capacity of 30 units, the Small Water Tank provides essential early-game liquid storage for colonies that need to stockpile water during wet seasons for survival through droughts. The tank is open from the top, with the visible liquid level indicating its current occupancy.
Tanks offer a critical advantage over open reservoirs: they store significantly more fluid per unit of volume and completely prevent evaporation. A Small Water Tank holding 30 units contains the equivalent of 6 full blocks of water in a compact footprint, far more dense than any open-air water storage. This efficiency makes tanks indispensable for drought preparation, as every unit of stored water counts when rivers run dry. Place Small Water Tanks near Water Pumps and distribution points to ensure your colony has immediate access to clean drinking water during dry periods.
As your colony's water needs grow, upgrade to Medium Water Tanks (300 capacity) and Large Water Tanks (1200 capacity) for substantially greater storage volume. However, Small Water Tanks remain useful as satellite storage near isolated production facilities that consume water, or as part of a distributed water network that reduces hauling distances. Each tank stores only one type of liquid good at a time, so dedicate separate tanks for Water and any other liquid resources your colony processes. For comprehensive drought protection, combine a network of Water Tanks with well-designed reservoir systems using Dams, Levees, and Floodgates.
