Triple Floodgate
landscaping
The Triple Floodgate is the tallest adjustable water control structure in Timberborn, standing 3 blocks high and unlocked for 500 Science Points. With a height adjustment range of 0 to 3 blocks in 0.05 increments, the Triple Floodgate provides 60 discrete settings for precise water level management. This makes it the ultimate tool for controlling deep reservoirs, major river dams, and large-scale water storage systems that hold your colony's water supply through extended droughts.
Triple Floodgates are the centerpiece of late-game water engineering. On maps with deep river valleys or where you have used Dynamite and the Dirt Excavator to carve out deep reservoirs, only the Triple Floodgate provides enough height to fully control water levels. They are particularly valuable in gravity-fed water systems where water is stored at elevation and released downhill through controlled channels to power Water Wheels, feed irrigation networks, and supply drinking water. The 3-block height also makes them effective as components of major flood defense systems that protect your colony from seasonal high water events.
When building with Triple Floodgates, position them at the outlet points of your largest reservoirs and at key control points along major water channels. Pair them with Levees for the static wall sections and use the Triple Floodgate only where you need adjustable flow, since they cost more Science Points than their smaller counterparts. For automated water management, combine Triple Floodgates with Valve Gates and Sluices that can respond to water depth and contamination conditions. In extreme cases, you can stack Triple Floodgates on top of Levee walls to create barriers exceeding 3 blocks, though such deep water systems are typically only needed on the most challenging maps.
