Bot Head

common

The Bot Head recipe constructs 1 Bot Head from 3 Gears, 1 Metal Block, and 1 Plank at the Bot Part Factory, requiring 150 horsepower and 0.3 hours (18 minutes) per batch. The Bot Head houses the control mechanisms that allow Timberbots to function autonomously, making it the most materially complex of the three Bot part recipes. This recipe is available to all factions and represents a significant investment in both processed wood products and smelted metal.

Three different production chains must converge to supply the Bot Head recipe: Gears from the Gear Workshop (consuming Planks), Metal Blocks from the Smelter (consuming Scrap Metal and Logs), and Planks from the Lumber Mill. The 3 Gear requirement is particularly notable, as each Gear takes 3 hours to produce at the Gear Workshop. This means producing enough Gears for a single Bot Head requires 9 hours of Gear Workshop time, making Gears the primary bottleneck in Bot Head production.

To avoid delays in your Bot production pipeline, maintain a buffer stock of at least 10 Gears and several Metal Blocks near the Bot Part Factory. Since the Bot Part Factory can only run one recipe at a time, schedule your Bot Head production in batches alongside Chassis and Limb production. The 0.3-hour crafting time per head is fast enough that the actual fabrication is never the bottleneck; instead, focus on upstream supply chain optimization. Running multiple Gear Workshops (3 or more) is essential for any colony planning to build Bots at scale, as the Gear demand from Bot Heads alone can overwhelm a single workshop.
