Decontamination Pod
well_being
The Decontamination Pod is a specialized Well-Being building exclusive to the Iron Teeth faction, requiring 500 Science Points to unlock. Its primary function is to cure beavers suffering from contamination, a dangerous status effect caused by exposure to Badwater. Contaminated beavers experience severe health penalties that can lead to death if untreated, making the Decontamination Pod a critical piece of medical infrastructure for any colony operating near Badwater sources or on maps where contamination is a significant hazard.
When a beaver becomes contaminated, they must visit a Decontamination Pod to be cleansed of the toxic effects. The Pod processes one beaver at a time, so colonies with frequent contamination events may need multiple Pods to handle the patient load. Positioning Pods near areas where Badwater exposure is most likely (such as near Badwater-adjacent work sites or in districts downstream of contaminated rivers) minimizes the time contaminated beavers spend traveling to treatment, improving survival rates.
The Decontamination Pod is a reactive solution to contamination, but proactive strategies are equally important. Building Levees and Dams to control Badwater flow, using Floodgates to prevent contaminated water from reaching populated areas, and carefully planning district boundaries all reduce the frequency of contamination events. The Pod works best as a safety net rather than a primary defense. For Iron Teeth players on Badwater-heavy maps, investing in Decontamination Pods early can prevent catastrophic population losses during unexpected flooding events.
