Double Floodgate

The Double Floodgate is a 2-block-high adjustable water control structure unlocked for 350 Science Points. Building on the same mechanics as the standard Floodgate, the Double Floodgate allows you to regulate water flow with a height range of 0 to 2 blocks in 0.05 increments. This doubled height capacity makes it suitable for managing deeper water bodies, taller reservoirs, and more powerful river channels where a single Floodgate would be overtopped by water pressure.
The Double Floodgate fills a critical gap between the basic 1-block Floodgate and the massive Triple Floodgate. In many map layouts, water sources and rivers run 2 to 3 blocks deep, making the standard Floodgate insufficient for full containment. By upgrading to a Double Floodgate, you gain the ability to control water levels in medium-depth reservoirs, manage river dams that hold back significant water volumes, and create more effective drought reserves. The 40 height settings (0 to 2 in 0.05 steps) provide excellent precision for maintaining optimal water levels in canals feeding Water Wheels and irrigation systems.
When designing your water infrastructure, place Double Floodgates in reservoir walls where water depth exceeds one block but does not require the full 3-block capacity of a Triple Floodgate. They work well alongside Levees, which provide static full-block containment, and can be combined with Dams for hybrid barriers. For contamination management during Badtide events, pair Double Floodgates with Sluices or Valve Gates that can automatically respond to Badwater conditions. The modest Science Point premium over the basic Floodgate (350 vs. 250) makes the Double Floodgate a worthwhile early upgrade for colonies on maps with deeper water features.
