Double Lodge

housing

The Double Lodge is an upgraded Folktails housing building that accommodates 6 beavers in a single structure, doubling the capacity of the standard Lodge. Unlocked with 250 Science Points and costing approximately 24 Logs to build, this structure occupies a 2x2 footprint but stands taller at 2 blocks high. Like the basic Lodge, the Double Lodge satisfies both Sleep and Shelter needs and supports natural breeding, making it a direct upgrade in the Folktails' residential progression. The building's compact footprint combined with its increased capacity makes it one of the most space-efficient housing options available to the faction.

A notable feature of the Double Lodge is that its entrance is located on the second level, requiring elevated paths, stairs, or platforms to provide access. Alternatively, players can build the Double Lodge one level lower than the intended access point, placing it in a depression or beside a natural elevation change. Double Lodges can even be placed in one-block-deep bodies of water without flooding, as water damage only occurs when water rises above the entrance level. This unique property opens up creative building strategies, allowing players to utilize riverbanks and shallow areas for housing that would otherwise go unused.

The Double Lodge is the natural mid-game transition from basic Lodges, offering twice the population capacity with the same ground footprint. When planning residential districts, consider terracing your housing on hillsides or using platforms to create multi-level neighborhoods that take advantage of the elevated entrance design. Combining Double Lodges with amenities like the Rooftop Terrace (which is placed on top of buildings) creates dense, well-served residential blocks. For maximum breeding efficiency, cluster your Double Lodges together and ensure the district has strong food production and Water supply, since well-fed beavers with high well-being breed more reliably.
