Platform

The Platform is a 1x1 stackable wooden structure that serves as the primary building block for vertical construction in Timberborn. Costing 250 Science Points to unlock and built from Planks, Platforms allow you to raise the effective ground level by one block, creating elevated foundations on which other buildings, Paths, and additional Platforms can be placed. Because Platforms are solid structures, they support the weight of virtually any building, making them indispensable for constructing multi-story settlements, elevated walkways, and rooftop installations above existing infrastructure.
The most common use of Platforms is in combination with Stairs to create spiral staircases that ascend tall structures. By alternating Platforms and Stairs in a compact footprint, you can build vertical access towers that let beavers and Bots reach elevated workplaces, storage areas, and housing. Platforms also serve as bridges when placed horizontally across gaps, though Suspension Bridges are more efficient for spanning large distances. When planning your settlement vertically, consider that Platforms can be stacked indefinitely, enabling skyscraper-style builds that maximize limited ground space near rivers and resource nodes.
For players looking to optimize their colony layout, Platforms offer a cost-effective way to build upward before unlocking the more advanced Metal Platform or Large Metal Platform. Place Platforms strategically near production chains to create compact, multi-level factory complexes where haulers travel short distances between floors. When paired with Impermeable Floors, stacked Platforms can even support aqueducts and elevated water channels. Keep in mind that Paths must be placed on top of each Platform level to maintain district connectivity, so always plan your path routing as you build upward.
