The Lodge is the starting housing building for the Folktails faction, providing shelter and sleeping quarters for up to 3 beavers at a cost of just 12 Logs. This compact 2x2 structure is available from the very beginning of the game with no Science Points required, making it the first building you should place to house your initial population. The Lodge satisfies both the Sleep and Shelter needs of its inhabitants, and importantly, it qualifies as a breeding structure, allowing the beavers living inside to naturally produce offspring over time.

As a breeding-capable building, the Lodge is central to the Folktails' population growth strategy. Unlike the Iron Teeth, who rely on Breeding Pods to produce new kits, Folktails beavers breed naturally when housed in Lodges, Double Lodges, or Triple Lodges with adequate well-being. This passive growth mechanic means that simply keeping your beavers happy, fed, and housed will steadily expand your workforce without any additional resource investment beyond the housing itself. The Lodge's small footprint makes it easy to fit into tight settlement layouts, and its solid construction transmits power to adjacent buildings.

Early game, you will want to build enough Lodges to house your entire starting population before expanding into other infrastructure. As your colony grows and you unlock more advanced technologies, consider upgrading to Double Lodges (6 beavers) or Triple Lodges (9 beavers) for better space efficiency, since these larger variants house more inhabitants per tile of ground space. However, the Lodge remains useful throughout the game as a flexible, low-cost housing option for filling gaps in your residential capacity or for quickly establishing housing in a newly founded district. Keep your Lodges close to workplaces and amenities like the Rooftop Terrace to minimize commute times and maximize beaver productivity.
