Fluid Dump

water

The Fluid Dump is a utility building available to both Folktails and Iron Teeth that dispenses Water or Badwater at a controlled rate of 3 units per hour. Unlocked at 250 Science Points, this 2-tile structure consists of a shed where beavers deliver buckets of fluid and a spout that releases the liquid onto the tile below. The Fluid Dump is a versatile tool for water management, allowing players to precisely place water wherever it is needed, whether for irrigation, reservoir filling, creating new water channels, or even strategic Badwater placement.

The Fluid Dump's ability to output fluid at a specific location makes it invaluable for terraforming and hydraulic engineering projects. Players can use it to fill canals and irrigation ditches, create artificial ponds for Water Pumps to extract from, maintain water levels in isolated reservoirs, or even flood areas strategically to support aquatic crop growth. The building requires a steady supply of Water (or Badwater) goods delivered by haulers or idle workers, so ensure your district has adequate Water Pump capacity and hauling infrastructure to keep the Fluid Dump supplied. The 3 units per hour output rate is modest, so large-scale projects may require multiple Fluid Dumps operating simultaneously.

The Fluid Dump is most useful in situations where natural water flow does not reach a desired location. Common applications include filling elevated terraces for farming, creating isolated water reserves disconnected from the main river system, and maintaining water levels in areas prone to evaporation during droughts. It can also serve as part of a Badwater management strategy, relocating contaminated water to designated processing areas near Centrifuges. When planning your water infrastructure, think of the Fluid Dump as the counterpart to the Water Pump: while pumps extract water from the environment into goods, the Fluid Dump converts goods back into environmental water, completing the cycle.
