Building
Large Metal Platform
paths_and_structures
The Large Metal Platform is the biggest structural platform available in Timberborn, exclusive to the Iron Teeth faction. Unlocked at a hefty 2000 Science Points and requiring 90 Metal Blocks to construct, this platform features a massive 5x5 top surface supported by a single central column. With 25 tiles of elevated buildable space from a minimal ground footprint, the Large Metal Platform is the ultimate tool for creating expansive elevated districts in space-constrained settlements.
As an Iron Teeth exclusive, the Large Metal Platform complements that faction's industrial playstyle and access to advanced metal processing. Building one requires a well-established Smelter operation converting Scrap Metal into Metal Blocks at scale, so plan your metal production pipeline accordingly. The 90 Metal Block cost is substantial, but the payoff is enormous: a single Large Metal Platform provides enough space for multiple buildings, storage facilities, or housing units on its elevated surface. This makes it ideal for building entire elevated neighborhoods or industrial complexes above ground-level infrastructure.
Strategically, Large Metal Platforms excel at creating second-story (or higher) building layers in mature Iron Teeth colonies. Place them above water channels, Dams, and Levees to reclaim otherwise unusable space for productive buildings. Combine them with Stairs or the Iron Teeth Tubeway System for efficient vertical transit between levels. When paired with Impermeable Floors, they can support elevated reservoirs and aqueducts. For Folktails players looking for similar large-scale elevated construction, the standard Metal Platform with its 3x3 surface is the closest alternative, though it cannot match the sheer scale of this Iron Teeth engineering marvel.
