Impermeable Floor

landscaping

The Impermeable Floor is a specialized landscaping structure unlocked for 500 Science Points that blocks vertical water flow through building surfaces. Introduced in the "Wonders of Water" update, this floor panel prevents water from leaking downward (or rising upward) through otherwise permeable structures like Platforms and Metal Platforms. In Timberborn, only Impermeable Floors and natural terrain can block vertical fluid movement, making this building absolutely essential for any elevated water infrastructure such as aqueducts, rooftop reservoirs, and multi-level canal systems.

The Impermeable Floor opens up extraordinary engineering possibilities for your colony. By placing it atop stacked Platforms or Metal Platforms, you can create elevated channels that carry water above your ground-level buildings, effectively building aqueducts that transport water across your settlement without interfering with pedestrian traffic or production facilities below. Combined with Mechanical Water Pumps, you can run rivers through artificial channels elevated far above the city center, or even across rooftops. This vertical separation of water infrastructure from ground-level activity is a game-changing capability for dense, multi-level colony designs.

When using Impermeable Floors, plan your vertical water systems carefully. Every gap in the floor will allow water to leak through, so ensure complete coverage across the entire surface of your elevated water channel. Place Impermeable Floors on top of any solid surface where you need water containment, including Platforms, Metal Platforms, Large Metal Platforms, and Overhangs. Combine them with Levees along the edges of elevated channels to create fully contained aqueducts. For subterranean applications, Impermeable Floors can also prevent a body of water from rising above a certain level, acting as a vertical cap on water height in specific areas of your colony.
