Underground Pile
storage
The Underground Pile is a Folktails-exclusive high-capacity pile storage building unlocked for 1000 Science Points and constructed from 20 Logs, 40 Planks, and 20 Gears. As the name suggests, this storage facility extends below ground level, providing the largest pile storage capacity in the game. The Underground Pile stores a single type of pile-compatible good (Logs, Planks, Treated Planks, Scrap Metal, Metal Blocks, or Dirt) and represents the pinnacle of Folktails storage technology, giving this nature-focused faction a massive storage advantage for raw materials.
The Underground Pile's enormous capacity makes it ideal for centralized material depots that serve entire production districts. Instead of scattering dozens of Large Piles across your colony, a single Underground Pile can consolidate a massive reserve of a critical material like Logs or Planks in one location. This is especially valuable during drought preparation, when you want to stockpile construction materials for building projects that will begin once the wet season returns. The Gear requirement in the construction cost means you need a functioning Gear production chain before building one.
Position Underground Piles at central logistics hubs where haulers from multiple production buildings can access them without long travel times. Their high construction cost (20 Logs, 40 Planks, 20 Gears) means each placement should be carefully planned. Build them for your most-consumed pile goods: typically Logs and Planks in growing colonies, or Dirt near active Terraforming Stations for major terrain modification projects. Iron Teeth players do not have access to Underground Piles but can achieve similar storage density through their stackable Industrial Piles. For Folktails, the Underground Pile is one of the strongest faction-specific storage options available.
