The Logs to Paper recipe converts 1 Log into 2 Paper at the Paper Mill, a Folktails-exclusive building. Each batch takes 1.6 hours and requires 80 horsepower to operate. Paper is a specialized material unique to the Folktails faction, serving as the primary input for the Printing Press where it is transformed into Books and Punch Cards. The Paper Mill employs 1 worker and is one of the more efficient conversion processes in the game, doubling the input count from a single Log.

Within the Folktails production chain, Paper occupies a critical niche as the gateway to knowledge-based goods. Books produced from Paper at the Printing Press fulfill beavers' intellectual needs and contribute to overall colony well-being. Punch Cards, another product of the Printing Press, are used in automation systems. Because Paper competes with Planks for the same raw material (Logs), Folktails players must carefully balance their forestry output between construction needs and Paper production. Running a dedicated Paper Mill alongside your Lumber Mills ensures that neither supply line starves the other.

For maximum efficiency, position your Paper Mill near both a Log storage area and the Printing Press to minimize hauling distances. At 80 hp, the Paper Mill is relatively light on power compared to many other mid-game buildings, making it easy to integrate into an existing power network. Since each Log yields 2 Paper, and the Printing Press consumes 1 Paper per Book over about 1.5 to 2 hours, a single Paper Mill can keep one or two Printing Presses supplied. Folktails players should unlock this recipe early in the mid-game to begin producing Books, which provide a significant happiness boost to the colony.
