Paper is a Folktails-exclusive material in Timberborn, produced from Logs at the Paper Mill. As a processed wood product, Paper shares its raw material with Planks, creating competition for your Log supply. The Paper Mill converts Logs into Paper, which then serves as a construction material for certain buildings and as an ingredient in other production processes. Paper is stored in warehouses and is relatively lightweight.

Paper has several important uses in the Folktails economy. It is a required construction material for buildings like the Resource Counter and other mid-game structures. Paper is also a key input for producing Books at the Printing Press, which beavers consume to satisfy their reading need and boost well-being. Additionally, the Herbalist uses Paper alongside Dandelions and Berries to produce Antidote. This diversity of uses makes Paper a surprisingly high-demand resource once multiple production chains are active.

Since Paper production competes with Planks and other Log-derived products for wood, managing your Paper Mill's output requires balancing against your broader lumber economy. Consider building your Paper Mill only after your Plank production is well-established and your Log supply has surplus capacity. Keep the Paper Mill powered and staffed consistently, and maintain a stockpile of Paper for both construction projects and ongoing consumption by the Printing Press and Herbalist. As your colony grows, Paper demand increases across multiple channels, so plan for scaling up production accordingly.
