Large Barrack
housing
The Large Barrack is an upgraded Iron Teeth housing structure that shelters up to 12 beavers, doubling the capacity of the standard Barrack. Unlocked with 250 Science Points and costing approximately 70 Logs to build, this 3x3 structure is the high-capacity workhorse of Iron Teeth residential planning. Like all Iron Teeth housing, the Large Barrack does not support natural breeding; population growth is handled separately through Breeding Pods and Advanced Breeding Pods. The building satisfies Sleep and Shelter needs and transmits power through its solid construction.
With 12 beavers per building, the Large Barrack is one of the most population-dense housing options in the game, making it ideal for districts with high labor demands such as industrial zones or large-scale farming operations. Its 3x3 footprint means it houses approximately 1.33 beavers per tile, which is efficient for mid-game expansion when space is becoming a premium but you need to quickly ramp up your workforce. The Iron Teeth's industrial aesthetic gives the Large Barrack a distinctive look that fits well alongside factories, power generators, and storage facilities.
Transitioning from Barracks to Large Barracks should happen once your colony has a stable Log supply and enough Science Points from your research buildings. The 250 SP unlock cost is modest, and the doubled capacity per building significantly reduces the number of housing structures you need to manage. In multi-district colonies, placing Large Barracks near your main production clusters minimizes commute times and keeps workers productive. Combine them with Breeding Pods to maintain steady population growth, and ensure adequate food production and Water supply to keep all 12 residents in each Large Barrack well-fed and hydrated.
