Barrack

housing

The Barrack is the starting housing building for the Iron Teeth faction, providing shelter for up to 6 beavers at no resource cost. Available from the beginning of the game without any Science Point investment, the Barrack serves as the Iron Teeth equivalent of the Folktails' Lodge but with double the starting capacity. This generous initial housing allows Iron Teeth players to immediately accommodate their starting population and begin expanding their workforce. The Barrack satisfies the Sleep and Shelter needs of its inhabitants and, like all housing, transmits power through its solid structure.

Unlike Folktails housing, Iron Teeth Barracks do not support natural breeding. Instead, the Iron Teeth faction relies on Breeding Pods and Advanced Breeding Pods to grow their population, which consume Water and Berries (or Extract) to produce new kits or adults on a set schedule. This mechanical approach to reproduction gives Iron Teeth players more precise control over population growth, since new beavers are only produced when resources are deliberately allocated to breeding facilities. The Barrack's role is purely residential, focused on keeping your existing workforce rested and sheltered.

At the start of an Iron Teeth game, Barracks are your only housing option and should be placed quickly to ensure all beavers have shelter. Their zero-cost construction makes them ideal for the earliest phase of settlement building, when every Log matters for constructing essential production buildings. As your colony matures and you unlock the Large Barrack (12 beavers), Rowhouse (4 beavers in a slim 2x1 footprint), and Large Rowhouse (8 beavers), you can transition to more space-efficient housing. However, the free Barrack remains useful for quickly establishing housing in new districts without diverting resources from other construction priorities.
