Corn

food_ingredient

Corn is a late-game ingredient exclusive to the Iron Teeth faction in Timberborn, grown and harvested at Farmhouses on irrigated farmland. As one of the higher-tier crops available to Iron Teeth colonies, Corn cannot be consumed directly and must be processed at a Food Factory to create Corn Rations. The crop takes several days to mature, requiring consistent irrigation throughout its growth cycle.

Corn's primary value lies in its efficient conversion at the Food Factory, where 12 Corn are transformed into 60 Corn Rations. This 5:1 multiplication ratio makes Corn one of the most efficient food crops in terms of final edible output per unit of raw ingredient. Unlike some other Food Factory recipes, Corn Rations require only Corn as an input with no secondary ingredient, simplifying the production chain.

Late-game Iron Teeth colonies should consider dedicating significant farmland to Corn production once the Food Factory is operational. The single-ingredient recipe and high output ratio make Corn Rations an excellent way to feed a large population efficiently. Balance your Corn farming with other crop needs (Canola for oil, Soybeans for fermentation) and ensure your Food Factory is powered and staffed to process harvests promptly. Stockpile raw Corn before droughts, as the Food Factory can continue producing rations from stored ingredients even when fields lie fallow.
