The Farmhouse is the Iron Teeth faction's core agricultural building, employing 1 to 2 farmers on a 2x2 footprint to cultivate all Iron Teeth land crops. Available from the start of the game at no Science Point cost, it handles a diverse roster of crops including Kohlrabi, Cassava, Canola, Soybean, Corn, and Eggplant. Built for just 20 Logs, the Farmhouse is your first step toward establishing the complex food processing chains that define Iron Teeth gameplay. Its internal storage holds harvested crops until haulers move them to warehouses or directly to processing facilities like the Fermenter, Oil Press, and Food Factory.
The Iron Teeth crop lineup is designed around layered processing. Kohlrabi (3-day growth) can be eaten raw, making it the ideal first crop for early survival. Cassava feeds into the Fermenter to produce Fermented Cassava (4 Cassava yields 10 servings). Canola Seeds pass through the Oil Press to become Canola Oil, which is then used by the Fermenter (for Fermented Soybean) and the Food Factory (for Eggplant Rations and Algae Rations). Corn goes directly to the Food Factory for Corn Rations (1 Corn plus fuel yields 5 rations), while Eggplant combines with Canola Oil in the Food Factory for 6 Eggplant Rations per batch. Understanding these interconnected production chains and planning crop ratios accordingly is essential for feeding a growing Iron Teeth colony.
Strategically, experienced Iron Teeth players follow a clear progression: start with Kohlrabi for immediate sustenance, then add Cassava with a Fermenter as your first powered food building. As your industrial base expands, introduce Canola and Soybean for oil-based recipes, and finally scale up Corn and Eggplant production once you have Food Factories running at 120 horsepower. Position Farmhouses near irrigated fields and consider placing a Beehive within range to boost crop growth by up to 43%. During droughts, maintaining water reserves through dams and Water Dumps is critical, since dead crops mean empty stomachs and potential colony collapse. Multiple Farmhouses working different crops ensures both food variety (for wellbeing) and resilience against supply chain disruptions.
