Food Factory

The Food Factory is the Iron Teeth faction's most advanced food processing building, representing the pinnacle of industrial food production. Unlocked for 500 Science Points and constructed from 40 Planks, 15 Gears, and 10 Metal Blocks, this 3x3 structure employs 2 workers and demands a substantial 120 horsepower to operate. It produces three high-yield recipes: Corn Rations (1 Corn plus 0.1 Logs yields 5 rations in 0.5 hours), Eggplant Rations (1 Eggplant plus 1 Canola Oil plus 0.1 Logs yields 6 rations in 0.5 hours), and Algae Rations (1 Algae plus 1 Canola Oil plus 0.1 Logs yields 6 rations in just 0.25 hours). The wiki describes Food Factories as the most effective converters of worker hours into nutrition in the entire game.

Each recipe connects to different supply chains within the Iron Teeth ecosystem. Corn Rations are the simplest, requiring only Corn from the Farmhouse and a small amount of fuel. Eggplant Rations add Canola Oil from the Oil Press, while Algae Rations combine Oil Press output with Algae from the Hydroponic Garden. Algae Rations are particularly noteworthy for their 0.25-hour production time, making them twice as fast to produce as the other recipes. With 2 workers operating simultaneously, a single Food Factory can process enormous quantities of food. Internal storage holds 12 Corn, 10 Eggplant, or 20 Algae on the input side, with 60 units of output capacity for each ration type.

Building a Food Factory is a significant investment that requires a mature industrial base, including Lumber Mills for Planks, Gear Workshops for Gears, and Smelters for Metal Blocks. The 120 horsepower requirement means you need a robust power grid, typically supplied by multiple Water Wheels or engines. For maximum efficiency, run multiple Food Factories on different recipes to provide food variety bonuses, and pair them with adequate Oil Press capacity (the wiki recommends at least 6 Oil Presses for a fully developed colony). Position Food Factories near warehouses stocked with their respective ingredients, and keep fuel Logs accessible. When combined with Fermenters and Hydroponic Gardens, the Food Factory completes the Iron Teeth late-game food infrastructure, capable of sustaining colonies of hundreds of beavers.
