Mangrove Fruits
food_raw
Mangrove Fruits are a mid-game food exclusive to the Iron Teeth faction in Timberborn, gathered from Mangrove Trees by beavers working at Gatherer Flags. Mangrove Trees are unique in that they can grow in and around water, including areas prone to Badwater contamination. While Mangrove Fruits can be eaten raw, providing direct hunger satisfaction, their production involves navigating the hazards of contaminated zones.
The primary challenge with Mangrove Fruit production is managing contamination risk. Mangrove Trees often grow near Badwater-affected areas, which means the gatherers harvesting them may be exposed to contamination. This makes Mangrove Fruits a somewhat risky food source that requires careful placement of Gatherer Flags and potentially Antidote production to protect workers. Despite this risk, Mangrove Fruits provide valuable food diversification for Iron Teeth colonies.
Foresters can plant Mangrove Trees in appropriate areas, and once established, these trees produce fruit repeatedly without being felled. Position your Mangrove groves in areas where contamination can be managed or where Badwater exposure is minimal. Having Antidote available from the Herbalist (or the Iron Teeth equivalent) helps mitigate the health risks to gatherers. Mangrove Fruits are particularly valuable on maps with extensive waterways, as Mangrove Trees thrive in environments where other trees cannot grow.
