The Forester is a critical reforestation building available to both Folktails and Iron Teeth, unlocked for 250 Science Points and constructed from 10 Logs and 7 Planks. Employing 1 worker, the Forester plants trees and bushes within a generous work area that extends 21 blocks ahead and 20 blocks in all other directions from its tower. Folktails Foresters can plant Birch, Oak, Pine, Maple, Chestnut Trees, and Blueberry Bushes, while Iron Teeth Foresters cultivate Birch, Oak, Pine, Mangrove Trees, and Coffee Bushes. The worker mans the tower when idle and ventures out to plant on any irrigated soil within range, ensuring your forests regenerate after harvesting.

The Forester works hand in hand with the Lumberjack Flag to create a sustainable wood economy. One Forester can keep pace with approximately four lumberjacks, so a good ratio is one Forester per four Lumberjack Flags in overlapping areas. The planted trees serve multiple purposes beyond just Logs: Pine Trees supply the Tapper's Shack with Pine Resin (essential for Treated Planks at the Wood Workshop), Maple Trees provide Maple Syrup (used in Bakery recipes and Catalyst production for Folktails), and Chestnut Trees produce Chestnuts harvested by the Gatherer Flag. Coffee Bushes planted by Iron Teeth Foresters feed into the Coffee Brewery chain. This makes the Forester not just a wood production building, but a foundation for multiple resource chains.

Prioritize researching and building a Forester early in the game, especially on maps where trees are scarce. The Forester requires moisture on the ground to plant, so ensure your planting zones have access to water through rivers, irrigation channels, or Water Dumps. Enable the Replace Dead Trees setting to automatically replant Mangroves or other species that die during droughts. The Forester transmits power through its structure, making it a convenient relay point in your power shaft network. Position it centrally within your forestry district, overlapping with Lumberjack Flag ranges and Gatherer Flag zones, to create an efficient, self-sustaining resource loop that keeps wood, fruit, and specialty ingredients flowing to your colony.
