Antidote
medicine
Antidote is a life-saving liquid resource in Timberborn, produced at the Herbalist building from Dandelions and other ingredients. When beavers become contaminated by exposure to Badwater, Antidote is the only way to cure them and prevent serious health consequences. Contaminated Folktails actively seek out Antidote and drink it, after which their contamination level slowly decreases over time. Each dose of Antidote is effective for half a day, meaning a full treatment requires approximately 8 doses over 4 days.
The Herbalist building has internal storage for 40 Berries, 40 Dandelions, and 20 Paper as inputs, and can hold up to 40 Antidote as output. This means the Herbalist requires a diverse set of supplies from different production chains: Berries from Gatherer Flags, Dandelions from dedicated Dandelion Bushes, and Paper from Paper Mills. Ensuring all three inputs are consistently available is essential for uninterrupted Antidote production.
Antidote production should be treated as emergency preparedness rather than routine manufacturing. Build your Herbalist and stock it with ingredients before the first Badtide arrives, not after. Position the Herbalist in a safe area away from potential contamination zones, and ensure beavers can easily access it when sick. During severe Badtides, demand for Antidote can spike dramatically, so maintaining large reserves of both finished Antidote and raw Dandelions is prudent. A colony caught without Antidote during a Badtide faces potential mass sickness and significant productivity loss.
