Nutrition Tier 1 is the first level of the Nutrition need group in Timberborn, representing basic food variety beyond mere Hunger satisfaction. While Hunger tracks whether a beaver is eating enough to survive, the Nutrition tiers track the diversity and quality of food in their diet. Nutrition 1 is satisfied by consuming the most basic processed or harvested foods available to each faction. When satisfied, it contributes positively to a beaver's Well-Being score, encouraging players to move beyond a single-crop diet as early as possible.

For Folktails, Nutrition 1 can be satisfied by foods such as Carrots, Grilled Potatoes, Grilled Chestnuts, and other basic cooked items. Each of these foods restores approximately 20 Nutrition points when consumed. For Iron Teeth, Kohlrabies, Mangrove Fruits, and basic processed goods from the Fermenter fill the same role. The key mechanic is that beavers choose their next meal based on which Nutrition needs are depleted, cycling through different food types to maximize their overall satisfaction. This means stocking a variety of Tier 1 foods ensures beavers rotate their diet naturally.

Strategically, satisfying Nutrition 1 is one of the easiest Well-Being upgrades to achieve. Players should diversify their crop production early, planting at least two or three different food crops and setting up the corresponding processing buildings (Grills for Folktails, Fermenters for Iron Teeth). Keeping balanced stockpiles of multiple food types prevents beavers from defaulting to a monotonous diet. Since Nutrition 1 satisfaction feeds into the broader Well-Being system, even this basic tier of food variety translates into meaningful bonuses to Work Speed, Growth Speed, and Life Expectancy across the entire colony.
