Water Seep

Water Seeps are small natural structures in Timberborn that produce water at a limited rate, filling only up to the height of one tile. Unlike full Water Sources, which can generate powerful rivers and streams, Water Seeps provide a gentle trickle of clean water that pools locally rather than creating significant downstream flow. These modest water features are found on various maps and serve as supplementary hydration points, particularly useful in areas far from the main river system where building long aqueducts would be impractical.

The limited pressure of Water Seeps means the water they produce will not flow far from their origin point. This makes them ideal for creating small local ponds or irrigation pools that can sustain a few farms or a small district outpost. During the Temperate season, Water Seeps produce clean water continuously, and the shallow pools they create can persist for some time into a Drought before evaporating. During Badtide events, Water Seeps behave similarly to Water Sources and emit contaminated Badwater, so players should plan containment measures around them just as they would for larger water features.

While Water Seeps alone cannot sustain a large colony, they are valuable supplements to a broader water management strategy. Players can enhance their utility by building small dams or levees around them to create deeper local reservoirs, effectively amplifying their modest output. On maps with scattered terrain or multiple elevation levels, Water Seeps in elevated positions can provide localized water access that would otherwise require extensive pumping infrastructure. Pairing Water Seeps with Water Pumps and small storage tanks creates efficient micro-hydration networks that keep outlying districts supplied without relying entirely on the central river system.
