The Temperate season is the lifeblood of every beaver colony in Timberborn, serving as a period of growth, abundance, and critical preparation for the hazards ahead. During Temperate weather, all Water Sources produce pure flowing water while Badwater Sources emit their toxic fluid at normal rates. Crops flourish, trees grow, and the landscape teems with life. This is the time when beavers must work tirelessly to stockpile supplies, fill water reservoirs, and expand their infrastructure. Every new game begins with a Temperate season, giving players a chance to establish their settlement before the first Drought or Badtide arrives.

Water management during the Temperate season lays the foundation for surviving everything that follows. Players should prioritize building dams, levees, and water tanks to store as much clean water as possible. Crops like carrots, potatoes, and wheat should be planted early, and forestry operations should be running at full capacity to ensure a steady supply of wood and food. The Temperate season is also the ideal time to construct new buildings, expand districts, and research new technologies at the Science Lab. Since Badwater Sources still flow during this period, players should invest in containment solutions such as Badwater Rigs, Badwater Domes, or Badwater Discharge structures to prevent contamination from spreading into agricultural areas.

Cycle length varies based on the chosen game mode and difficulty settings, with some randomness built in. On easier difficulties, Temperate seasons are generous, giving players ample time to prepare. On harder settings, however, the window of opportunity shrinks considerably, and efficient resource management becomes essential. Experienced players often use the Temperate season to plan irrigation channels that will retain water through the Drought and to build floodgates that can redirect Badwater flows during Badtide events. The transition from Temperate weather is always signaled in advance, allowing careful players to make last-minute preparations before conditions deteriorate.
