Resource Counter
counter
The Resource Counter monitors the stockpile level of a specified good in your district, sending a signal when the quantity or storage fill percentage crosses a configurable threshold. Players select which good to track and set comparison operators (greater than, less than, and others) to define the trigger condition. At 250 Science Points, the Resource Counter is slightly more expensive than basic sensors but provides invaluable inventory management capabilities that enable truly responsive production automation.
Connect the Resource Counter to production buildings to create self-regulating supply chains. For example, a Resource Counter tracking Plank stockpiles (set to 'less than 20') can activate additional Lumber Mills when reserves run low, then deactivate them when stock recovers. Similarly, monitoring food stockpiles with a Resource Counter and connecting it to Food Factories or Bakeries ensures production ramps up before shortages occur and winds down to prevent overproduction. This type of feedback loop is the foundation of efficient colony management.
Advanced circuits combine multiple Resource Counters with logic gates to manage complex production dependencies. An AND Gate connecting a 'Canola Oil greater than 10' counter with a 'Soybean greater than 20' counter can activate a Fermenter only when both ingredients are available, preventing the building from sitting idle with only one input stocked. Resource Counters also work well with Indicators and Speakers to create visual and audio alerts for critical supply levels. Deploy Resource Counters for your most important goods (Logs, Planks, Gears, food items, and fuel) to build a comprehensive inventory monitoring dashboard. The 250 Science Point investment pays for itself through reduced waste and more responsive production.
