As one of the most versatile ingredients in the Iron Teeth economy, Canola Oil feeds into multiple production chains spanning both food and industrial sectors. Its broad utility makes it a high-priority resource for any Iron Teeth colony moving beyond the early game.

In the food sector, Canola Oil is combined with Soybeans at the Fermenter to produce Fermented Soybeans, and it is used at the Food Factory in recipes for Eggplant Rations (10 Canola Oil plus 10 Eggplant yielding 60 rations) and Algae Rations (20 Canola Oil plus 20 Algae yielding 60 rations). In the industrial sector, Canola Oil is combined with Extract at the Grease Factory to produce Grease, the fuel that boosts Ironbot performance. This dual role in food and industry creates heavy demand.

To keep up with Canola Oil demand, you may need multiple Canola farming plots and potentially more than one Oil Press. Prioritize which downstream products are most urgent: if your colony is hungry, focus on Fermented Soybeans and food rations; if your Ironbots need fuel, prioritize Grease production. Building a Canola Oil reserve in storage helps buffer against the competing demands. Since Canola Seeds only come from farming, drought periods completely halt new Canola Oil production, making pre-drought stockpiling absolutely essential.
