The Bakery is a Folktails mid-game food processing building that transforms flour into some of the most nutritious and satisfying baked goods in the game. Unlocked for 250 Science Points and constructed from 15 Logs, 15 Planks, and 10 Gears, this 3x2 building employs 1 worker and uses small amounts of Logs as fuel (0.1 per batch). It produces three recipes: Bread (1 Wheat Flour yields 5 Bread in 1 hour), Cattail Crackers (1 Cattail Flour yields 4 Crackers in 0.5 hours), and Maple Pastries (1 Wheat Flour plus 1 Maple Syrup yields 3 Pastries in 1.5 hours). The Bakery transmits power through its structure, simplifying your power grid layout.

The Bakery sits at the end of the Folktails flour processing chain, receiving its primary inputs from the Gristmill. Bread offers the best volume per input at 5 units per Wheat Flour, making it the staple food for large colonies. Cattail Crackers process twice as fast as Bread (0.5 hours versus 1 hour) and use Cattail Flour from the Aquatic Farmhouse and Gristmill chain, providing a rapid-production alternative. Maple Pastries are the premium option, combining Wheat Flour with Maple Syrup harvested by the Tapper's Shack from mature Maple Trees. While Pastries yield fewer units (3 per batch) and take the longest to produce, they count as a distinct food type for variety bonuses. The generous internal storage (up to 190 Bread, 80 Crackers, or 60 Pastries) means a single Bakery can accumulate significant reserves.

For optimal production, dedicate each Bakery to a single recipe and build multiple Bakeries to cover all three products. Two Bakeries making Bread can be fed by a single Gristmill processing Wheat, while three Bakeries making Maple Pastries draw from one Gristmill plus a steady Maple Syrup supply. Place Bakeries adjacent to Gristmills and near warehouses to keep ingredients flowing without delays. The fuel requirement is trivial (just 0.1 Logs per batch), so wood supply is never a bottleneck. In the late game, a well-organized Bakery district producing all three goods simultaneously provides excellent food variety, keeping beaver wellbeing high and your colony thriving through both prosperous and challenging times.
