Badwater Pump

water

The Badwater Pump is a Folktails-exclusive building designed specifically for extracting Badwater from contaminated water sources, pumping from depths of up to 2 blocks. Unlocked at 500 Science Points, this reinforced pump is built to handle the corrosive properties of Badwater that would damage standard Water Pumps. The extracted Badwater is stored as a good that can then be processed by a Centrifuge into valuable Extract, turning a hazardous environmental contaminant into a useful industrial resource. Low Badwater contamination levels actually slow down the pump's extraction speed, so it operates most efficiently in heavily contaminated areas.

Badwater management is one of Timberborn's most critical challenges, as contaminated water can poison beavers and crops if left unchecked. The Badwater Pump gives Folktails players a proactive tool to remove contamination from their water supply by extracting Badwater before it spreads. Positioning Badwater Pumps near Badwater Sources or in areas where contamination accumulates helps contain the threat at its origin. The extracted Badwater feeds directly into the Centrifuge production chain, where it is refined into Extract, a resource used in advanced manufacturing and as an input for Iron Teeth Advanced Breeding Pods.

Folktails players should build Badwater Pumps as soon as Badwater becomes a threat to their water supply, prioritizing placement near the most concentrated contamination sources. For a complete Badwater management setup, combine Badwater Pumps with Badwater Domes to cap active Badwater Sources and Centrifuges to process the extracted Badwater into useful Extract. The Badwater Rig offers a more efficient alternative for direct collection from Badwater Sources, but the Badwater Pump remains valuable for cleaning up contaminated pools and waterways. In emergencies, deploying multiple Badwater Pumps along a contaminated river section can rapidly reduce contamination levels and protect downstream Water Pumps from reduced efficiency.
