Maple Syrup

food_ingredient

Maple Syrup is a Folktails-exclusive ingredient in Timberborn, harvested from mature Maple trees by tappers working at Tapper's Shacks. Like Pine Resin (which is tapped from Pine trees), Maple Syrup extraction does not destroy the tree, allowing repeated harvests from the same Maple over its lifetime. Tapper's Shacks employ one worker each, who alternates between tapping Pine and Maple trees within the building's work radius.

Maple Syrup has two important uses in the Folktails economy. First, it is combined with Wheat Flour at the Bakery to produce Maple Pastries, a late-game food that provides excellent nutrition and happiness bonuses. Second, it is a key ingredient at the Refinery, where 25 Maple Syrup and 25 Extract are combined to produce 125 Catalyst over 3 hours. This dual role makes Maple Syrup a resource that serves both the food and industrial sectors of your colony.

Managing Maple Syrup production requires establishing dedicated Maple groves near your Tapper's Shacks. Foresters can plant Maple trees, but they grow slowly, so plan ahead. Since the same Tapper's Shacks also harvest Pine Resin, you may need multiple shacks to keep up with demand for both products. Prioritize Maple Syrup production once your Bakery or Refinery comes online, and consider planting additional Maple trees well in advance of when you will need them. A mature Maple grove is a valuable long-term asset for any Folktails colony.
