Dandelions are classified as an ingredient rather than a direct food source, and they are gathered by Gatherer Flags. While they cannot be eaten on their own, Dandelions serve a vital purpose in the Folktails health infrastructure: they are the primary ingredient used by Herbalist buildings to produce Antidote, the only cure for contamination caused by exposure to badwater. This makes the Dandelion Bush an essential plant for any Folktails settlement that operates near contaminated water sources.

The Dandelion Bush has the fastest growth cycle of any bush in the game at only 3 days, which means a single Forester can maintain a large and constantly producing field of Dandelions with minimal effort. Each bush yields 1 Dandelion per cycle, so players will need multiple bushes to keep up with Antidote demand during contamination events. The Herbalist combines Dandelions with Berries (gathered from Blueberry Bushes) to craft Antidote, creating a two-ingredient production chain that requires both bush types to be planted and actively gathered. Ensuring a reliable stockpile of Dandelions before droughts or contamination events can mean the difference between a healthy colony and a devastating plague.

Strategically, Folktails players should establish Dandelion Bush plantations near their Herbalist buildings and Gatherer Flags to minimize hauling distances. Because the growth time is so short, even a modest planting area can generate a surplus of Dandelions relatively quickly. It is wise to begin Dandelion cultivation early in the game, well before contamination becomes a pressing concern, since having a stockpile of Antidote (or at least a steady supply of Dandelions) provides important insurance against unexpected badwater exposure. Unlike Blueberry Bushes, which provide direct food value, Dandelion Bushes are purely a support crop, so they should supplement rather than replace food-producing plants.
