Bush
Blueberry Bush
common
The Blueberry Bush is a common plant available to all factions in Timberborn, making it one of the most universally important food sources in the game. It takes 12 days to mature and, once fully grown, produces 3 Berries per harvest cycle. Berries are gathered by Gatherer Flags and can be eaten raw by beavers with no processing required, which makes the Blueberry Bush an ideal early-game food source. Most maps start with wild Blueberry Bushes already growing, giving new settlements an immediate food supply before any farming infrastructure is established.
Beyond their role as a basic food source, Berries have additional uses in both faction-specific production chains. The Folktails use Berries as an ingredient in Herbalist buildings to produce Antidote, which cures contamination from badwater exposure. The Iron Teeth, meanwhile, use Berries in their Breeding Pods for population growth. These secondary uses mean that Blueberry Bushes remain relevant well beyond the early game, since Berries continue to serve critical functions in health management and colony expansion. Each bush produces a yield of 3 Berries, making it a reasonably productive plant relative to its 12-day growth time.
Strategically, players should plant Blueberry Bushes using Foresters as soon as possible in any new settlement. Their common faction status means every colony can benefit from them regardless of which faction is chosen. While Blueberry Bushes are eventually outpaced in food efficiency by dedicated crop farms (such as Carrots for Folktails or Kohlrabi for Iron Teeth), they remain a valuable supplemental food source throughout the game. On maps with limited arable land, expanding Blueberry Bush coverage via Foresters can provide enough food to sustain a small population without any farmland at all. Players should position their Gatherer Flags centrally among clusters of bushes to minimize beaver travel time. Combining Blueberry Bushes with other bush types like Dandelion Bushes (Folktails) or Coffee Bushes (Iron Teeth) creates a diversified gathering economy that covers food, medicine, and luxury needs simultaneously.
