Maple Pastries
folktails
The Maple Pastries recipe combines 1 Wheat Flour and 1 Maple Syrup to produce 3 Maple Pastries at the Bakery. Each batch takes 1.5 hours and consumes 0.1 Logs as fuel, with no power requirement. Maple Pastries are a premium Folktails food item that provides excellent satisfaction to beavers, contributing significantly to colony happiness. While the yield of 3 per batch is lower than Bread (5 per batch), the higher satisfaction value of Maple Pastries makes them a worthwhile addition to any Folktails menu.
This recipe requires two separate ingredient supply chains to converge at the Bakery. Wheat Flour comes from the Wheat-to-Gristmill pipeline, while Maple Syrup is harvested from Maple Trees by Tapper's Shacks. Maple Trees are Folktails-exclusive and provide Maple Syrup as a renewable resource once they reach maturity. The dual-input nature of this recipe means that a shortage of either Wheat Flour or Maple Syrup will idle the Bakery, so balancing both supply lines is essential for consistent Maple Pastry production.
Maple Syrup is also used in the Catalyst from Maple Syrup recipe at the Refinery, so Folktails players must decide how to allocate their Maple Syrup between food and industrial uses. For settlements focused on food quality, dedicating Maple Syrup to pastries is a strong choice, as the happiness benefits compound across your entire population. Plant a grove of Maple Trees early and position Tapper's Shacks to harvest them efficiently. A single Tapper can harvest roughly 21 to 23 Maple Syrup in 16 work hours, which provides enough syrup for substantial Pastry production when combined with steady Wheat Flour output.
