Compact Water Wheel

power

The Compact Water Wheel is a small, specialized power generator exclusive to the Iron Teeth faction, requiring 250 Science Points to unlock. Designed for tight spaces and shallow waterways, it generates power from flowing fluids (including both Water and Badwater) with a maximum output of approximately 40 horsepower. While its power ceiling is lower than the standard Water Wheel or the Large Water Wheel, its reduced footprint allows it to be placed in locations where larger generators simply cannot fit, making it a valuable tool for squeezing extra energy out of narrow channels and smaller streams.

Like all water-based generators, the Compact Water Wheel's output varies directly with the speed and volume of water flowing past it. Players can maximize its efficiency by constructing Dams and Floodgates to funnel water through confined passages, increasing current speed. Placing multiple Compact Water Wheels in series along an engineered canal is a common Iron Teeth strategy for generating respectable total power from otherwise underutilized water sources. Because it requires no workers or fuel, every unit of power it produces comes at zero ongoing cost.

The Compact Water Wheel pairs well with the Iron Teeth's broader power infrastructure. During wet seasons, a row of these generators can supplement output from Large Water Wheels, while Power Shafts transmit the combined energy to workshops, Bot Assemblers, and Charging Stations. During droughts, their output will drop alongside all other water-based generators, so Iron Teeth players should maintain Large Power Wheels or Engines as backup. The Compact Water Wheel fills an important niche in the Iron Teeth energy portfolio by harvesting power from waterways that would otherwise go untapped.
