Grease Production

iron_teeth

The Grease Production recipe combines 1 Canola Oil and 1 Extract to produce 2 Grease at the Grease Factory, an Iron Teeth exclusive Science building. Each batch takes 1 hour. Grease is the Iron Teeth faction's equivalent of Biofuel, used to maintain and power Timberbots. Without a steady Grease supply, Iron Teeth Bots slow down dramatically and eventually stop working, making this recipe essential for any Iron Teeth colony that relies on automated labor.

This recipe sits at the convergence of two separate industrial chains. Canola Oil comes from pressing Canola Seeds at the Oil Press, while Extract is refined from Badwater at the Centrifuge. Both inputs are themselves products of multi-step production processes, making Grease one of the most supply-chain-intensive goods in the game. The Canola Oil requirement means Grease production directly competes with food production (Fermented Soybean, Eggplant Rations, and Algae Rations all use Canola Oil), forcing Iron Teeth players to carefully balance their Oil Press output between feeding beavers and fueling Bots.

Each Bot consumes roughly 2 units of Grease per day, so a colony running 5 Bots needs approximately 10 Grease daily. At 2 Grease per hour from a single Grease Factory, you would need about 1 to 2 Grease Factories running full-time to maintain a modest Bot fleet. Plan your Canola farming and Badwater collection operations to scale with your Bot count. The Extract input also ties Grease production to Badwater availability, which can be seasonal. Building Badwater storage tanks to capture toxic floods ensures a year-round Extract supply. Position the Grease Factory near both your Oil Press and Centrifuge output to create an efficient industrial cluster.
