Tappers Shack

The Tapper's Shack is a specialized wood-products building available to both Folktails and Iron Teeth, unlocked for 250 Science Points and constructed from 20 Logs, 20 Planks, and 10 Gears. Employing 1 tapper on a 2x2 footprint, this building harvests sap and syrup from fully grown Pine and Maple Trees within its work area. Both factions can collect Pine Resin (roughly 20 to 22 units per 16 work hours, at 2 per harvest), while Folktails additionally harvest Maple Syrup (approximately 21 to 23 units per 16 work hours, at 3 per harvest). Internal storage holds up to 50 units of each resource, providing a comfortable buffer between harvesting and pickup.
Pine Resin is one of the most strategically important resources in Timberborn, serving as a key ingredient at the Wood Workshop where it combines with Planks to produce Treated Planks. Treated Planks are required for constructing advanced buildings like the Coffee Brewery, Mechanical Water Pumps, and Mud Baths, and they serve as the consumable input for mining operations at the Mine and Efficient Mine. Without a steady Pine Resin supply from Tapper's Shacks, your colony's progression into mid and late-game infrastructure stalls completely. Pine Trees regenerate their resin every 7 days after an initial 12-day growth period, so you need a mature pine forest maintained by a Forester to keep production flowing.
Maple Syrup (Folktails only) feeds into the Bakery for Maple Pastries and into Catalyst production. Maple Trees take 30 days for initial growth and 12 days between subsequent harvests, making them a long-term investment that pays off with a unique and valuable resource. When positioning Tapper's Shacks, place them centrally within groves of the appropriate tree type and ensure your Forester is set to replant Pine or Maple Trees to maintain a renewable supply. Because the Tapper's Shack does not require power, it can operate independently in remote forestry outposts. Pair it with a Forester and Lumberjack Flag for a complete forestry district that produces Logs, Pine Resin, and (for Folktails) Maple Syrup simultaneously.
