Nutrition II

nutrition

Nutrition Tier 2 is the second level of the Nutrition need group in Timberborn, representing a mid-tier food variety requirement. Building on Nutrition 1, this tier requires beavers to consume more advanced or diverse food items to achieve satisfaction. Each Nutrition tier operates independently, so beavers must eat foods that specifically satisfy Tier 2 in addition to foods that satisfy Tier 1 and basic Hunger. When Nutrition 2 is met, it provides an additional Well-Being point, stacking with other satisfied needs to unlock performance bonuses.

Nutrition 2 is typically satisfied by more processed food items. For Folktails, this includes Bread (made from Wheat Flour at the Bakery), Cattail Crackers, and other intermediate recipes. For Iron Teeth, fermented goods produced at the Fermenter from Cassava, Soybean, or Mushroom crops satisfy this tier, as do processed items from the Food Factory. Each qualifying food restores approximately 20 Nutrition points toward this tier. The key to satisfying Nutrition 2 is establishing a processing chain: raw crops must first be harvested, then converted through one or more production buildings before they qualify for higher Nutrition tiers.

To manage Nutrition 2 effectively, players need to invest in food processing infrastructure. Folktails should build Bakeries and ensure a steady Wheat supply for Bread production, while Iron Teeth should establish Fermenters and route appropriate crops through them. Keeping Nutrition 2 foods stocked in Warehouses near residential districts ensures beavers can access them during meal breaks. Since beavers prioritize depleted Nutrition needs when choosing meals, maintaining balanced production across all food types prevents bottlenecks. The Well-Being bonus from Nutrition 2, combined with Nutrition 1 and other needs, contributes to the threshold bonuses that dramatically increase Work Speed, Growth Speed, and Life Expectancy.
