Adults are the primary working life stage of beavers in Timberborn. Once a Kit completes its 6-day maturation period (or less, if Well-Being bonuses accelerate growth), it becomes an Adult and can be employed in any building that requires a workforce. Adults handle all productive labor in the colony, from farming and logging to manufacturing and construction. They consume the full rate of approximately 2.67 units of food and 2.13 units of water per day, and they require housing to satisfy their Shelter and Sleep needs. The Adult stage lasts for the remainder of a beaver's lifespan, which is determined by their Life Expectancy bonus from Well-Being.
Well-Being plays a critical role in Adult beaver performance. As an Adult's Well-Being score rises, they gain significant bonuses to Work Speed (up to +70% at high thresholds), Movement Speed (also up to +70%), and Life Expectancy (up to +260 additional days at Well-Being scores of 70 or above). These bonuses compound dramatically: a beaver with high Well-Being works faster, travels between buildings more quickly, and lives far longer, making each satisfied need a meaningful investment in colony productivity. Conversely, Adults suffering from unmet basic needs like Hunger or Thirst face severe penalties, including -50% Work Speed when starving and -25% Movement Speed when dehydrated. If either critical need is left unmet for too long, the beaver will die.
Strategically, Adults are the backbone of any Timberborn colony. Players should prioritize keeping Adults well-fed, hydrated, sheltered, and entertained to maximize their output. Assigning Adults to the right buildings matters: specialized structures like the Lumber Mill, Farmhouse, and various processing facilities (Fermenter, Oil Press, Food Factory, Coffee Brewery for Iron Teeth; Bakery, Grill for Folktails) each require Adult workers. Balancing the workforce across food production, manufacturing, power generation, and Well-Being buildings is essential. During droughts, maintaining Adult survival takes top priority, since losing experienced workers can cripple production chains. Iron Teeth players can supplement their Adult population directly through Advanced Breeding Pods, while Folktails rely on natural reproduction and Kit maturation to grow their workforce.
