Canola Seeds to Oil
iron_teeth
The Canola Seeds to Oil recipe presses 1 Canola Seed into 1 Canola Oil at the Oil Press, an Iron Teeth exclusive building. Each batch takes 1.3 hours and requires 50 horsepower. Canola Oil is one of the most critical intermediate ingredients in the Iron Teeth economy, serving as an input for Fermented Soybean, Eggplant Rations, Algae Rations, and Grease production. Without a steady supply of Canola Oil, multiple Iron Teeth food and industrial chains grind to a halt.
Canola Seeds are harvested from Canola crops grown at Farmhouses. The 1:1 conversion ratio at the Oil Press means that your Canola Oil supply is directly limited by your Canola farming output. Since Canola Oil is consumed by so many downstream recipes, Iron Teeth players typically need multiple Oil Presses running simultaneously, especially in the late game when food production, fermentation, and Grease manufacturing all compete for the same ingredient. The Oil Press employs 1 worker and has a modest 50 hp power draw, making it relatively cheap to operate.
As your colony expands, Canola Oil often becomes the single biggest bottleneck in Iron Teeth production chains. It is advisable to dedicate large swaths of farmland to Canola crops and build Oil Presses proportionally. A single Oil Press produces roughly 0.77 Canola Oil per hour, so for a colony running one Fermenter on Soybean (consuming 0.33 Oil per hour) plus one Food Factory making Eggplant Rations, you already need at least 2 to 3 Oil Presses. Late-game Bot maintenance via Grease adds even more demand. Position your Oil Presses between Canola storage and the buildings that consume Canola Oil to streamline logistics.
