The Beehive is a Folktails agricultural support building that boosts crop growth rates within its area of effect, significantly accelerating food production. Unlocked for 500 Science Points and built from 10 Logs, 15 Planks, and 20 Paper, this compact structure does not require a worker to operate. Instead, it passively enhances nearby crops by applying growth boosts to 3 crops every 2 hours, with a 24-hour cooldown between successive boosts on the same crop. The result is approximately a 43% overall growth boost (roughly a 30% reduction in growth time), making it one of the most impactful agricultural investments in the game.
The Beehive's effect radius extends 3 tiles in all directions, and its influence projects vertically through the entire column, affecting crops on structures and paths above or below the hive. This makes placement critically important: position Beehives to cover as many crop tiles as possible without overlapping with other Beehives, since wasted boost capacity reduces your return on investment. The Beehive accelerates growth for both land crops (from the Efficient Farmhouse and Farmhouse) and aquatic crops (from the Aquatic Farmhouse), but it does not affect Bushes, Trees, or their resource regrowth (such as Berries, Maple Syrup, or Chestnuts gathered by the Gatherer Flag or Tapper's Shack).
There is an important drawback to Beehives: beavers walking through the affected area may suffer bee stings, which reduce their wellbeing. To mitigate this, route paths away from Beehive zones so that only farmers (who must enter the fields) are exposed. Alternatively, assign Bots as farmers in Beehive-adjacent farmhouses, since Bots are immune to bee stings. The Beehive also produces Honey as a secondary output, adding another food source to your colony. When used strategically alongside Efficient Farmhouses, Aquatic Farmhouses, or Iron Teeth Farmhouses, Beehives can dramatically increase your food output per tile, making them essential for compact, high-efficiency agricultural districts.
